On The Road Again! - Alexander Friends of the Library Take Teens to NC Museum of Art

Happy Halloween, Everyone!

For the second time, our wonderful Friends of the Library are sponsoring as many teens that wish to go for a trip to the North Carolina Museum of Art on November 6, 2012.  In January 2012 the teens were able to see the works of Rembrandt there.

The Friends are providing lunch, snacks, tickets for the exhibit, and transportation.  The library and I are very thankful for this opportunity the Friends are providing for these teenagers.

This time, on November 6, the teens will see the Still-Life Masterpieces: A Visual Feast from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.  Per the museum's website, the exhibit "features European and American paintings and decorative arts from the Renaissance to the present. Visually alluring, the still life has served as a means for artists through the centuries to test their artistic mettle and express often-profound ideas on time, life, and nature."

Our local teens will get to see Renoir, Manet, and Cezanne.  I'm personally stoked about it!

Take a look at the last trip and some of the fantastic works created around it through the video below.  That's what we're here for at the library - making awesome memories!  It is a blessing to have such a supportive Friends group to make things like this happen.  Thank you, Friends!

Check back for how our trip went!

On another note, our Twilight Slumber Party is shaping up nicely for November 9.  We have some folks from Forks Public Library in Forks, WA who are going to visit us via Skype that night.  Since the books' setting is in Forks, they are going to talk about the impact that the Twilight books has had on their community.  They are also sending goodies from their Chamber of Commerce for our lockin folks!  Isn't that awesome?

Have a happy Halloween!  Until next time,

Mel
